Dada things - part 1

My friend Kevin sent me a copy of Linda and Opie O'Brien's awesome art doll book, Who's Your DADA? for Christmas (what a sweetie!) and I finally got a chance to start working on some pieces today.

I'm pretty excited about working in this style - I even jumped right in and decided to use my prized possession - the tin doll head - for the first piece. I mounted it onto a wooden box that I base-coated with some Golden fluid acrylic in Quinacridone/Nickel Azo Gold. Not sure where I'm going to take this one yet, so I set it aside to start on the next piece.

I filled a little liquor bottle with water and added in some beads, stones, and some glitter (kind of a snow globe effect, when you shake it). And then started working on a paper clay head for the top. The clay needs to dry before I do anymore work on it so I moved onto the next piece.

The last piece I worked on today is a ceramic mask that I covered with bits of torn book pages. Not sure yet if this will be part of another doll assemblage, or if I will just flat-mount it on a plaque or in a shadowbox.

I will post an update when I get more done on these pieces.
