Altered Child's Chair

I donated a chair I altered to the Crisis Call Center for their "Chair-ity Ball".

They asked artists to donate items to be auctioned off as a fundraiser.

And below are a few angles of my chair. This started out as an unfinished pine child's chair kit. I covered the chair with torn pages from an old copy of Great Expectations and then ripped and sanded some of the areas for a more distressed look. Then I went over the whole surface with brown shoe polish which gives it a nice, antique look. I finished up with some rusting solution around the hardware and here and there on the chair for added interest. The old book, faux apple, and dried roses in the glass vase were the final touches.
